COMPACT will adopt an iterative development, integration, and prototyping strategy, where various system components will be integrated and combined in several phases to implement the overall approach. The project will adopt a service oriented integration approach towards the delivery of the COMPACT platform.
COMPACT services will rely on the evolution of existing systems, frameworks, and prototypes developed in other projects or selected among existing open source software. These solutions will be tailored and extended in order to fulfil the requirements for and implement the COMPACT services, which in turn will be integrated into the COMPACT system.
The integration process of the individual components in the COMPACT platform will be incremental, while in parallel thorough evaluation and unit tests of the functionalities of the individual services and implementation of the defined use-cases and user scenarios will be performed.
Development will progress in parallel with various tasks allowing developers to optimize their work while keeping project aspects in sight during the implementation. Using the Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) the development of the integrated COMPACT platform covers the full spectrum from TRL3 to TRL7.
The COMPACT services will be validated in relevant environments (i.e. with real data provided or validated by the users), while the integrated system will be deployed and demonstrated in the operational environments provided by the partners LPAs users.
COMPACT project innovates at technological level and at process level which is an important dimension in engaging LPAs’ employees in the improvement of cyber-resilience.
At technological level, COMPACT innovates in real time security monitoring, security awareness training, information sharing, cyber-security gamification, risk assessment, and threat intelligence.
At process level, COMPACT adapts the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle for LPAs to do iterative removal of security bottlenecks and achieve compliance with EN ISO/IEC 27001 and BS ISO/IEC 27005.
